Die Zeitschrift Musical Times and Singing Class Circular vom 1. May 1890 berichtet über ein Konzert in der St Jame’s Hall in London:
The vocalist, Mr. Norman Salmond, decidedly improved his position by his declamatory but perfectly legitimate rendering of “O ruddier than the cherry.” He also introduced an extremely charming if somewhat sad little song, “Good Night,” by Battison Haynes, in which the composer has caught the spirit of the German verses by Betty Paoli.
